12/07/2012 the State of natural disaster recognised in Lourdes

End of October, the flood of the gave de Pau had caused damage in the town and the sanctuaries of Lourdes. This recognition by the State paves the way for financial compensation.

The State of natural disaster was recognized in Lourdes, the city of miracles, by the State. Good news for the sanctuaries of Lourdes which can thus expect financial compensation to repay the damage of the spectacular floods last October 20.

«With this recognition of the State of natural disaster, insurers will be allowed to complete their work, welcomed by the Rector of the sanctuaries of Lourdes, father Horacio Brito.» But the damage will be not refunded. That is why the generosity towards Lourdes is more necessary than ever."

The pilgrimage site was him also heavily flooded.
The pilgrimage site was him also heavily flooded.

Floods had among other damaged the hydroelectric micro site, two bridges pedestrians and caused collapses of highways. 500 pilgrims had to be evacuated from their hotel.

The Bursar of the sanctuaries, Thierry Castillo, had estimated the damage to hundreds of thousands of euros. A blow to the Marian city, which drains not less than 6 million people every year, since accounts 2011 already showed a deficit of one million euros (on an annual budget of 30 million), due to the drop in donations and offerings.

The sanctuaries of Lourdes, closed this weekend because of flooding, were partially reopened Monday morning to the pilgrims who will however have to wait Tuesday before it can reach the cave, announced the sanctuaries.

The pilgrims from Canada, from Japan, the Philippines were able to take the path of the Esplanade of processions and the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, as well as the crypt. This is done quietly, (it was) a day, said a spokesman: only 1,300 pilgrims were registered.

An important pilgrimage supposed to come to Italy with patients has cancelled his trip because of the flood of the gave de Pau and floods it has provoked in one of the most important cities of Catholic pilgrimage in the world. Access to the sanctuaries has been closed since Friday evening.

The cave where the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in 1858 and where crowd usually pilgrims, will only reopen Tuesday. Monday, municipal employees and firefighters were still working to clean the courtyard before the cave of fifteen to twenty centimetres of mud which covered it.

2012: 1st international scientific symposium in Lourdes: what does heal today?

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the world day of the sick, an international scientific symposium was held in Lourdes, on 8 and 9 June 2012, under the auspices of the Pontifical Council for Health Services. The Professor Luc Montagnier, Nobel Prize in medicine in 2008 and Dr. Esther M. Sternberg, internationally recognized for his discoveries of science in disease and healing mind-body interaction, were among the participants of this first symposium.

The theme of these two days of meetings and exchanges was ' mean cure today? ", whether in terms of reason and science, link and not in opposition, with the influence of faith and prayer on human health.

In a century and a half, 7000 unexplained healings have been certified by the international medical Committee of Lourdes. Could new scientific advances unravel their mystery? Survey on the role of the spiritual and emotional in the healing process.
Lourdes, June 2012. At the initiative of the leaders of the sanctuary, a symposium brings together 40 researchers and doctors, 'not necessarily believers', on the theme of healing.
Lourdes, it is traditional to not oppose faith and science, says Dr. Alessandro de Franciscis, Chairman of the Bureau of medical findings. This is the first holy place to be has, at the end of the 19th century, a review of healing Committee, composed of doctors and psychiatrists. »
A task made difficult by the progress of science. "Today, it is more surprising cure an infectious disease! smiles Dr. de Franciscis. There are treatments for almost everything. Only degenerative diseases whose origins are unknown, yet pose question. Our experts require therefore warranties to verify that there is much disease, the diagnosis was good, that the person is permanently restored. And above all, that there is no, in the current state of knowledge, of similar cases in the medical literature,"insists Dr. de Franciscis.

Under these conditions, 7000 unexplained healings, is not nothing! Besides those which the sanctuary authorities are not informed... What can they hold: the simple fact to believe?
"It's a factor," admits Dr. Esther Sternberg, author of Healing Spaces: the Science of Place and well-being (Harvard University Press). "30-90% of the effectiveness of any treatment are based on our faith in its virtues," says the scientist, known for his work on the links between the body and the spirit. When you are a believer, you know the story of Lourdes, its legends. Consciously or not, you are just hoping to profit. This expectation is a spring of the Placebo effect. »
However, in the Office of the medical findings, observed that in many cases of unexplained healings, people had not come to Lourdes to ask for their healing, but to pray for something else, or for someone else. «Interesting! reacts Dr. Sternberg. This confirms the role of other elements, such as compassion and selfless love, in the healing process. »
And to Lourdes, love, is not what is missing! When I came for the first time, in 2006, I was struck by the faces of the pilgrims and volunteers, reflects Dr. Sternberg. In the subway in New York, their smiles seem suspicious, but here, the opening of the heart is authorized, empathy and benevolence are stark. Where you look, you see young people accompany old, with valid support of disabled, ill help more evil point. This social support mediates the healing. »

Likewise that positive emotions, engendered by the place itself and what you are doing there, "which demonstrated that they are biologically involved to reduce the harmful effects of stress on the body to release endorphins (hormones of well-being) and to stimulate the immune system, said Dr. Sternberg. Since 1984, an article in Science Magazine indicated that among patients hospitalized for a single act of surgery, those who had rooms overlooking trees healed faster, with less drugs than those whose windows gave onto a wall. This study has been repeatedly reproduced. » Lourdes, there is the mist in the air, the light of the Sun, water from the streams, curves of the mountains", but also"the scent of the candles, the sweetness of the songs, the sound of the bells, the touching beauty of rituals... ". Most these sensory experiences are rich and positive, more they help the immune system to do its job. "Same with prayer, which, according to Dr. Sternberg, acts on the same areas of the brain as yoga and meditation. "Regardless of the activity: swim, pray, sing, meditation, tai chi, supervise his feeding or follow a psychotherapy! All to achieve a beneficial mental state for health. "For the scientific community, the power of Lourdes would therefore in its ability to stimulate, in many ways, the positive links between body and mind. But is that all? The cave water, this water is said to be miraculous, including pilgrims fill cans, would it not also of the secrets to reveal?
For now, his analysis showed no particular property, but the presence at the seminar of Professor Montagnier, who came to present his work on the "memory of water", could lead to new investigations. "We have proved the dilution of specific sequences of DNA Laboratory in water induces the formation of nanostructures, which retain the DNA-specific information and are able to transfer», explains the Nobel Prize in medicine.
But then, what would be carrier water of Lourdes? The memory of an active ingredient with which she had been in contact? "Good waves" transmitted by an external electromagnetic field? Even thoughts and positive energies of six millions of annual, as visitors suggested the Japanese Masaru Emoto or the American Lynne McTaggart? The theory is seductive, but in the absence of dedicated studies, this is for the moment only conjecture.

Remains the mystery. Among the 7000 unexplained healings certified by the international medical Committee of Lourdes, 67 were hoisted to the rank of miracle by the Church, because it considers them "carrying a sign. But, concludes Dr. de Franciscis, it is another story. »

Professor Luc Montagnier, Nobel Prize in medicine in 2008

Mr Luc Antoine Montagnier was a virologist french, born 1932-08-18 Chabris in Indre. 10-Le06-2008, is co-winner of the Nobel Prize of medicine with François Barré-Sinoussi for their discovery in 1983 of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
Professor at the Pasteur Institute in which he headed from 1972 to 2000, viral Oncology Unit, he is the Director of research at the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) and former Professor at New York University, is a member of the Academies of science and medicine...
In 2010, Luc Montagnier took the direction of a new Institute of China research at Shanghai Jiaotong University, where he continues his research on the formation in water induced by DNA nanostructures.
The french virologist Luc Montagnier, advance as very low frequency magnetic fields induced by DNA are detectable in high dilutions of culture filtrates of microorganisms (viruses, bacteria) or plasma beings humans infected with the same agents. These very low frequency electromagnetic fields "inform" the pure water that would be able to regenerate (98% identical to) the initial DNA DNA. According to the article, experiences that have led to this latter result proved highly reproducible: "It was clearly showed that nanostructures water and their electromagnetic resonances can faithfully carry out the information contained in the DNA." In other words, via electromagnetic fields, information is found in the water without hardware support. This discovery is hereby the work of french immunologist Jacques Benveniste, who died in 2004, discoverer of the controversial 'memory of water '. It is the first to have claimed that water could retain properties while following dilutions, there was no active molecules. In a book published in 2008, Luc Montagnier said already have made observations that were consistent with the work of Benveniste. Having reached in France the legal age of retirement, he went to China where he became Director of a new Research Institute at Jiaotong University in Shanghai. He continued his research on training in water of nano-structures induced by DNA, at the crossroads between biology, medicine, and physics.
